Lavender plugs

Can I plant the lavender plug plants I received in May in the garden now? They have doubled in size and are still in my greenhouse at the moment. Will they have become tough enough to survive the winter or should I keep them under protection until next Spring? Any help gratefully received. Thanks

    Depends on the variety but if they have filled a 9cm pot with roots they'd be strong enough to plant out. Maybe remove the pot on a couple and inspect the root system to be certain, top growth is a good indication but you need to have strong roots too.
