Iris laevigata has never flowered

Hi all, back to pick your brains yet again! I have an iris laevigata bought from the pond plant section of local garden centre some 4 years ago. It's in my pond with just couple of cm over the top of the pit it came in. It has always had very healthy foliage but has never flowered. Everything I read seems to indicate these are really easy to grow, so what am I doing wrong?! Thanks in advance.

    Have you a photo?
Maybe it was wrongly labelled and its a grass?

Pretty certain it's iris, leaves are quite distinctive (among the rampant water mint!) It was small spreawhen I bought it and it's spread but never flowered.

That looks like an iris but if you have had it 4 years it should have  more stems than that. You say it's I the same pot you bought it  in so that could be why.
Not a pond plant expert but I would take it out and repot into a larger basket, use the right soil for a pond or in the past I have had good results with clay cat litter, but I didn't have any iris.

There were no plants in that part when I first put it in and it still didn't flower. It was in a small aquatic pot but has grown out through it. I will pull out some of the mint at some point but there's still space for the iris to spread under the water. That's only a small part of the shallow end where it slopes into the pond proper. Do iris need a lot of space then? It's only supposed to be small blue one. There were huge yellow flag iris in the pond when I inherited it which I took out due to their size. I've enlarged that end a bit since too.

I have aquatic compost so can repot it. Would I need to split it too?
