Seed potatoes - King Edward's

I was given quite a lot of seed potatoes a couple of months ago. Having planted as many as I could find space for, I still have a number left, which are happily sprouting on a shelf in the shed. I'm guessing that these won't keep for planting at a later date? They're destined for the compost bin at the moment, which seems a waste. Any ideas?
