Help with Plant Identification Please

I've noticed this plant growing in an old pot hidden behind the garage any ideas what it is?

It looks very much like Salix caprea, aka Goat Willow, the fluffy seeds of which get blown everywhere and seem to especially like neglected pots.  I get them popping-up in my blueberry pots.

this is the second specimen to appear today.
    I'd remove it ASAP

  • Thank you! A goat willow had never crossed my mind. What would be the issue of planting it out Hostafan1? I know nothing about willows so will read up this evening.

It's a thug, grows very big very quickly and saps water and nutrients from the soil.  No redeeming features in form, foliage, flowers, colour, perfume..........

  • Got it! :) Thanks Obelixx. Fortunately it's in a pot so I can easily tip it out into the garden waste and re-use the pot now I've found it. Thanks all!
