Black broad bean pods

I've had a good crop of broad beans but all of a sudden lots of the pods have started to go black very rapidly. I've picked everything today as lots of these pods were beginning to burst open as the beans were still growing but the pods weren't. Any ideas ? I'm going to grow winter beans this year and if it's something I've done wrong then pre warned would be great
