Lettuce leggy and falling over?

Hey all. I'm new to gardening and desperately need help. I planted these mesclun lettuce seeds in solo cups with drainage indoors. They are about 2 inches or less from the full spectrum lights. I'm not sure why they are so limp and long. Could someone please help? The mesclun mix includes:  Arugula, Cicoria, Endive, red and green lettuce. Wondering if these type of lettuces look like this normally? Seeds were planted on 6/25

It’s being too warm coupled with a lack of sufficient light ... an effect called etiolation. Even giving them lighting isn’t sufficient as you’ve found.

Sow some more, this time outside ... they’ll be fine at this time of year ... you can clip and eat those ones now in a sandwich or salad ... no need to waste them.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Wow never heard of that! Thank you so much!  :)
