I introduced nematodes to our veg garden this week to fight slugs that have devastated our leafy greens. Has anyone here tried slug nematodes and have they worked for you?

Yes, I used them and they do work.  Just too expensive for a large garden.
The slugs were decreased the following year as well, due to no egg laying, but back after that.   Secret is to not use them too early, they need to be applied when it’s warm weather.

I agree - they are quite pricey, and one box allows you to only really cover 100sqm. But I'm heartened to hear they worked because the slugs have ripped through some of our leads veg.

I used them 3 years ago and I am still seeing the effect now I would definitely recommend them worth every penny.

    Hi @mrmhf ,

I've used slug nematodes for a few years now and they work well .... I don't re-apply every 6 weeks as recommended as I've found that an application in Spring and then again in Autumn works OK.

I have a very large garden so I now double dilute the nematode solution so that it goes further .... because I'm really just topping the up each time.

I used to be able to collect 400+ slugs on a damp evening ....  now it's hard to find any.

Nematodes are fab, but for me they work best in containerised plants, rather than in open ground. Also use the vine weevil ones which are the bees knees.

It seems illogical [ to me anyway ] that slug nematodes work best on pot plants. Most of the slugs that visit my pots, do not live in those pots, but visit from elsewhere. They will not be affected by the nematodes.

Used nematodes for the last 3 years and they work but I have not applied them this Spring....as I forgot...and still not a sign of a slug.

We thought the going was good this year, very hot and dry for a long time so not slug weather,  but now the monsoon season’s started I have millions of them.
