  • Fatsia japonica is known as the  False Castor Oil Plant ... the ‘Latin’ names are so important to avoid confusion https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/garden/732833/How-to-grow-false-castor-oil-plant

  • I'm surprised the cold hasn't killed the castor oil plant.  The other tropical plants i had seeded have all died from the cold.  It has also self seeded quite a few plants.

Thank you very much for your kind comments.   I was very lucky I began digging my pond myself when I got a call from the county road division.  They asked if they could help build it by removing dirt for a new highway.  I said sounds great!  They came in with two giant track hoes and 15 dump trucks for six months.
Lucky you!  I'm in Temple and own 42 acre cabin getaway place down around Gause and a 15 acre place in Rockdale.  Our ponds were already on both rural properties when we bought them, luckily.  I understand it's quite expensive contract work unless you have the equipment to do it yourself.  What an incredible savings for you!
