Not honesty, those are  flat discs.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

It was kind of a pear shaped but slight pointed at the top if that helps!
  • It had lots of quite large orange seed inside too. nikirachael8891 said:

Orange seed suggests Iris foetidissima to me...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I'm with @Liriodendron. Iris foetidissima came into my mind too when you said orange seeds in it.

It would help to know where you found them - in a garden, growing wild, in a hedgerow, meadow?

Thanks for your help but I’ve googled those and the seeds don’t look the same. The ones I’ve got were in a perfect row and had flat kidney bean shaped seeds. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see! The seed pod before it was broken up was similar shape and size to a garlic bulb x
