Why are they all made in China?  Like solar powered garden lights!  Took me days of hunting last autumn to find EU made garden lights.

Simple answer - cost.  Chinese workers earn far less than almost anybody in the EU, and they don't have any employment rights. 12 hour days in sweat shops but people still buy the stuff.  Unless people stop wanting everything at the lowest possible price, the practice will continue.

But like anything solar they add to the mountain of rejected electronics being impossible to repair.
    Well, exactly so.

I looked on Amazon last night for one and was amazed at the sheer number available but couldn't find any that were not made in China, which I'm trying to boycott because of the Hong Kong situation. Decided to go without although I do like the look of them. I do have a small mains operated water feature but you have to be very careful the water doesn't evaporate while the pump is switched on and also have to remember to switch it off when it gets dark.

Can I ask you please @Songbird-1, which one you bought? The ones I looked at all seemed to imply delivery would take 4-6 weeks.

I got one last year off Ebay. It worked fantastic all summer and around
September just stopped. I cleaned it. Checked it over. Would not work. I thought, I will just leave it for a few days before throwing it out. All of a sudden it started working again.

I have now come to the conclusion that it just wants to work when it feels like it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just refuses and it is nothing to do with the sun.

When it works it does look lovely 😂😂

This is my experience with solar garden stuff. I've stopped buying it.
