Climbimg beans dying

Some of my climbing bean varieties are dying. The leaves are turning yellow then shrivelling brown and with the stem just dying. I have combined two varieties this year so not sure if it is just one affected. Never had this problem. I did grow beans at the back of the same bed last year and I put manure down in spring but also on another bed where there is no problem with some dwarf beans. I've looked it up and don't know if the manure caused a deficiency or it is root rot with all the rain. Any ideas? Thank you!

Looks like fresh straw on the ground. Is that a mulch or was the manure fresh? Fresh manure is too strong, has to be rotted until almost black. If it is just a straw mulch, could slugs and snails be hiding under it? They can nibble one stem causing it to collapse and die before they start on the next one. Can I see little white things on it? Are there whitefly? If the manure was rotted and the ground was very wet it could be rot but the other bean looks healthy.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Thanks Lizzie. The straw is a mulch.and the manure was indeed well rotted.  There are courgettes and squash in the same bed and they too are happy. No whitefly I can see and no snail damage. The fact the other beans seem ok is what's confusing me. It is the severity of the die back which worries. I think it is one of the two varieties I planted as they are mainly on one wigwam with one or two on the others (I'm not a good labeller). Maybe more delicate! Fingers crossed it stay that way. I examined the roots of one dead plant and they look healthy.
