Bug eating clematis leaves

hi
can anyone identify the bug. I’ve got holes in my clematis leaves and wondered if this was the culprit.

I can't ID it without seeing the thorax but it looks like a type of wasp, possibly a Wall Mason wasp:
Wasp are mainly carnivores and eat small caterpillars etc. so are good guys in the garden.
Small holes in clematis leaves are often caused by small snails which climb the plant at night.  Try inspecting the plant with a torch after dark as lots of other potential culprits are nocturnal feeders.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
