Garden stoneware repair

I have a old stoneware birdbath and the top part has come away from the pedestal. It is not broken, just seperated whilst I was moving it.  What would be the best way to fix the two halves together again? It looks as if it was originally a cement join.

I don't know if this would work, but a few years ago I cracked a lump (about 10" x 4") off a big concrete planter when digging out the compost with a spade.
I used a full tube of superglue to see if that would work.
I didn't think it would work, but it did :) the join is almost invisible and the planter is still good about 5 years on.

Evostick "Sticks Like Sh*t" is fantastic stuff for this kind of thing.  Yes, that really is what it's called!  There are lots of similar 'grab adhesives' by other brands if you google the term.

My thanks to both of you.
I can get the Evostick one in Homebase so I'll give it a try.
  • My OH swears by Gorillaglue - it stuck our brick pillar back together.

  • For stoneware and any ceramics it makes sense to use an epoxy based adhesive if you want a permanent fix.
