mystery seedling

Sorry I've forgotten how to do pictures!  These seedlings appeared in one of my seedtrays (could have been plumbago or perovskia) and got potted on. They are  quite fleshy but I have no idea what they are. The bushy one stands about 16cm tall.  I have not planted them out as they look look slug fodder!  Do I want to keep them?  I just can't place that leaf shape.  Many thanks for any suggestions as to what they might be.

Those look like Fat Hen (Chenopodium album) unfortunately.  The pics aren't super clear so could be wrong.

I think you're in the right family

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Fat hen had rather dull green foliage and these are a bright green.
Thanks for your ideas so far though, it gives me somewhere to search online.  I don't know why but I am half expecting purple flowers.

How about quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa)?  I know some of those have purple flowers.

I was thinking the leaves in the first picture look a bit like Eryngium?
  • Just been checking out chenopodium and think you're right but I,'ll have to wait and see what variety it turns out to be.  Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
