Another plant ID please!

Sorry for yet another plant ID from me but... what is this plant surrounding the dryopteris (not the fern obviously!)?

    Hmm OK. Never seems to flower, and some of them have quite tall woody stems which is why I thought it was something other than Euphorbia... thanks for your help!

    It's one of the weedy euphorbia that lurk at the back of the border where you'd have to trample on something to get at them.

    Second picture looks more like a daphne than a euphorbia?

    Yes I'm not too sure what it is... never flowers!
