Your fern looks like a reasonable height, so I would put it at the back. We have a nice sedge (Carex Oshimensis Everillo) which we have beside our ferns. It has a bright, acid yellow, evergreen foliage. It prefers damp shade, so might be nice at the front of your border.
White dicentra [or whatever they call it now] is perfect for that space. You can do Camassias for a bit of height if there's room. They come in white. Polemonium [Jacob's Ladder] also comes in white. White hardy geraniums.
Hakenochloa [centre of pic] will also grow perfectly there. I think it's 'aureola' I have, but there's a few varieties. Makes a clump about 18 inches to 2 feet, and spread quite easily. You can have hellebores, primulas and bulbs with it too. I grow it in sunnier sites as well as shade
