Funky Caterpillar, ID Please!

Anyone recognise this little chap resting on a rose? Intrigued to know the purpose of the yellow bobbles on his back too, looks like he is carrying pollen sacs...

thanks.

These guys have been popular on the roses this year, I had them several weeks back and Marlorena posted a photo also.

Ah, I didn’t recall Marlorena’s photo - do they munch on the roses or are they harmless, do you know @Victoria Sponge?

They ate some of the leaves on my Night Owl but it recovered, they have gone now, hopefully pupating somewhere safe.

Oh well, the rose they are on is due to be replaced, so I guess I don’t mind them having a bit of a munch!
