rosa rugosa yellowing in the center?

Greetings! A week ago, I planted a rosa rugosa in one of my beds, and I have been seeing that the inside leaves have been yellowing, the growing tips are starting to wilt, and the flower buds wither and do not bloom as they should. I feed the rest of my garden with comfrey once a week, but otherwise do not water (I mulch heavily, and the earth has been moist all summer). I know this particular rose can put up with many different environments, so why is it not liking mine?

Hi @jnoakey  and welcome to the forum 😊

You do need to water newly planted shrubs generously for their whole first season, particularly ones that have been planted in full leaf.

Rosa rugosa are tough adaptable shrubs, but only when they’ve become established.

Not watering it generously is just throwing your money away 😢

I would give it two buckets full of water every other day from now until mid September.

I hope you saw Gardener’s World last night where Monty Don said exactly the same thing about watering all plants, even ones that do well in dry soil, for their first season until they become established.
    😊
