Are these caterpillar droppings?

A quick google would suggest these are likely to be caterpillar droppings on my young zinnias. Does that look about right?

I had wondered if they were eggs originally but seeing the photos so close-up I'm inclined to think it's crap...

Given I also found a small green caterpillar on one of the plants I assume that isn't a coincidence.
