Ours came with the house 33 years ago and they weren't young then. Previous owner only here for 2 years so probably planted by original owner many years before. One large clump next to the drive not far from a hydrangea which likely sheltered it. Tall and orangey. Eventually got them out with a pickaxe. Clay soil.
Planted some yellowy ones in the back garden. Narey a flower just lods of spreading foliage.
It might be interesting for you all to know that Crocosmia is a native to Brazil, though it is mainly a hill country plant. I can't flower it reliably where we are. Yes. here it is also a mess after flowering, but you don't notice that so much as it is mainly found in woodland. A lot of stuff here is reverse gardening. I am trying digging up the bulbs and putting them in fridge during the summer to see if they will do better.
