Pieris

Hi I brought this Pieris in the sale from Tesco , gave it a good water and repotted it. Is there anything else I should do with it to encourage new growth and do you think it’ll be ok and not completely die?

    It does not look well to me.
    They do best in acidic soil.
    Not sure there is much you can do.

    Some shade, acidic soil (ericaceous) and rainwater only. It might recover if you do those things. That is assuming it's in multipurpose compost at the moment.

    Yeah it might’ve been why it was in the sale. I only brought it yesterday, hoping I could nurture it back to life.

    Yes in multi purpose compost atm. I’ll add some acidity to the compost and use rainwater. Hopefully it’ll eventually spring back to life. I only brought it yday for £1 hoping it’ll bounce back.

    I had one that looked not much better after it got dried out this spring, when I literally had no water to spare for anything but essentials (no mains water). I repotted it in fresh compost, cut it back to healthy looking buds on each branch, watered it well and put it in the shade. It has made new growth all over and is looking good to go, so I shall find a spot for it in my woodland area and plant it out in the autumn. Good Luck with yours :)

    Thank you! And yes I was thinking about cutting the ends of each branch to promote growth. I think I may do that if yours was ok.

    not sure what you mean by 'add some acidity' but you will need to change all the soil for ericaceous compost. I would even rinse off the old compost.
