Erygnium - Support

Do you stake and add a support for your Erygniums? Mine are being battered by the wind but worry that if I add a support now it may bend the tops?

The recent strong winds and rain have made mine tilt over.
I've just used little bamboo canes to hold them up.
Mine are only small plants though from seed last year

Mine do lean over but I don't bother with supports. If I remembered early enough I should put some of the metal hoop supports in before they get battered, but somehow I never think about it until its too late.

Ours always need supporting.  We use metal semi-circular hoops, or bamboo canes and string.  Very blustery winds in the South East over the past week, so it's not just the Eryngiums that have needed staking!
  • Thanks all! It’s probably something a should’ve done before they grew so big! I’ve put some canes in and loosely tied them in so there’s still a bit of give... hope this wind passes soon... everything is toppling!!😬

I'm still the same after all of these years - I notice things growing and think 'that could do with a bit of support' but usually don't get around to doing it until after the wind! :D
