Dahlia growing sideways ???

mickiewimickiewi Posts: 1
 Greetings and Salutations !!!

After finally mastering the lawn, I am moving on to start a flower garden.

Anyway, I planted 10 Dahlias and some of them look like they are growing
sideways rather than straight up - see below pics.
What do I do?  Dig them up and replant? Put soil horizontally on the stems?
Just stake them from the new location of the stem?

They just looks as if they need a bit of firming in , in the 2nd pic especially.
Just firm in the soil round them with your hands. Should be fine.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Has it been windy where you are? They look like they've been blown over. If you can, gently lift them up when you firm them in and then stake them, or if they've already "set" in the new position it's OK to stake them from there. I find the metal half-circle supports work well for my dahlias which tend to be pretty bushy. People who grow them for showing (with thinning out and disbudding to get fewer but bigger flowers) use chunky wooden stakes.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
