Dwarf Marigolds

Anyone any idea why my dwarf marigolds (French Bonita mix) have grown so big? I grow them every year, but this year they've gone mad, instead of the usual 7-10 inches some of them are 2 feet and still growing!

    Thats crossed my mind, but the flowers look like they do every year. I've grown ordinary marigolds in the past and the flowers are much bigger.
     It's the plants themselves, they are comparitively massive compared with every one I've grown for the past 30 years :/
