Large sharp hard plant Id

anyone able to id this plant , and can I cut it back as it is quite sharp and gets us when walking past the car.

  • Nope, you can't prune it. Looks like a variety of agave or a yucca. A classic case of wrong plant in the wrong place.

    Thanks all, I thought that might be the case. I really like the plant, its beautiful but we really do not have space for it, I guess i will try to sell it, as reading up they are happy to move. hopefully someone else has a welcoming space for it, as its too big for us. when we moved in it was only tiny around 8 years ago. does not surprise me at all lol.

    In the meantime, before you dig up and/or sell the plant, you can just nip off the sharp points - doesn't harm the plant but will make it a darn sight less dangerous when you ( or your buyer) want to deal with it.
    Lovely plants but they fight back ;)

    Saw one of these with wine corks on the outward facing spikes. They must have got through an awful lot of vino.
