Salix flamingo not doing well

Hi, i bought two salix flamingo trees around 3 weeks ago, i potted them into bigger pots, topped the soil with white stones/gravel (for asthetic purposes but also heard it keeps the soil moist) and placed them in front of my house where the sun rises so they are in the sun until around 1pm. I water them every night. I bought them online and when they were delivered a lot of the leaves were brown and crispy, they seemed to get a lot better after a few days but the past week they are starting to get brown and crispy again, is it dying? Im very new to gardening so not sure what i am doing wrong. Any help and advice would be great!

    Welcome to the forum.
It sounds like stress due to water shortage. Keep watering and I'm pretty sure they'll settle down.

If they're in ordinary multi-purpose compost you'll probably find they'll do better in John Innes No 3 loambased compost with the addition of some multi-purpose at a ratio of 3:1

The loambased compost will hold more water which is what all salix/willows need more than anything.
