Aloe Vera plant

Hi all
Hoping someone can help me..
I've had an Aloe Vera plant for about 3 years now. Yesterday, I went to take the lower leaves off but obviously did something wrong and the whole plant fell over!
I now have the roots and whatever was left of the stump (below the soil) in the pot and nothing else..
Will the plant re grow or have I killed it off?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Poor thing, looks like you went at it with a machete! If the whole plant just ‘fell off’ it could indicate it was rotting - too much water, not enough drainage, maybe, but difficult to say without seeing a ‘before’ photo. Does the remaining stump feel a bit soft and soggy? I don’t think there is much hope tbh but be good to work out what happened to inform care of it’s replacement....

I literally went to take off the third leaf (same way I've removed leaves for the last year)and must have gone too far with it. It's dried out now so I don't think anything will happen with it. She has lovely roots (repotted her this year into a larger container with the right soil) but that won't matter now
