Moving Raspberry canes and blackcurrant bushes

Hi we are in the process of preparing my late mother in law's house for sale sadly, she was a very keen gardener and especially enjoyed growing lots of fruit and vegetables!! Our children often enjoyed visiting Granny and helping themselves to her raspberries and blackcurrants.
We were thinking how nice it would be to move these bushes to our own garden so that they can continue to enjoy the berries and remember Granny at the same time!

My question is whether moving them whilst in fruit will cause them damage or will they be able to survive?? I know there is potential of losing next year's crop which we can put up with, we are just unsure whether moving them at this time of year will harm the plants?! Obviously we don't want this to happen!!!

Help and advice greatly received!!

Large blackcurrant bushes won't move well, and not at all at this time of year.  Assuming it will take a couple of months at least to complete the house sale, I would take hard wood cuttings of the blackcurrants. I have found that if you cut pencil thick one or two year old stems, and push them in the ground where you want them, half of them will root.  I prune my blackcurrants immediately after picking the fruit  (mine are just ripening), and you can use the prunings for cuttings.  New  rejuvenated plants will always do better than  an old bush which has been moved.  It would be sad to move the old bush and then watch it die.

Raspberries I would only move after the leaves have fallen off in October.  Maybe order some new canes from a good supplier. Polka are pretty reliable and easy to look after, you just cut them to the ground every January, give them a feed in March and a mulch, then pick raspberries in late summer into autumn.
