What’s wrong with my turf?

Had turf laid about 5 weeks ago, ground was well prepared and turf laid by landscapers.

I’ve followed instructions re watering it and keeping off it.

It’s got areas throughout that the grass is green on top but looks yellow underneath. When I touch it it comes away and it’s muddy underneath. I’ve contacted the turf people and waiting to hear back.  I noticed a few patches within the first week as told the sellers. Since then the grass has grown and I’ve cut it twice, looked really lush and thought those patches and recovered.

Any thoughts?

I tried to add photos but it says they are too big..

I can't see anything wrong from your photos. Any small gaps will usually disappear as you mow the lawn. If they don't you could just re-seed the area in autumn.

From your description, sounds like the grass may be grown in very damp or heavy soil. Nothing wrong with that, just try to keep off the grass when it is very wet. Once the turf has bonded in and settled, you can top dress with some more fine top-soil to help keep the top most layer more free draining.
