Broad beans abroad

I live in the Philippines and would love to grow broad beans which dont seem to exist here. I have tried with a Fothergill packet but after 6 or 7 weeks they just give up trying!

Is it the rubbish soil that is in my garden or cant they stand the heat? (daily temp is generally around 80 to 85). I have tried growing runner beans and the plants had no problem growing 5 and a half to six foot in height.
Cheers

Unfortunately, broad beans are a 'cool climate' type and won't survive in hot and humid conditions.  75F is generally quoted as the max. temp they'll endure.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
