Climbing French bean question

Hi all,

First post from someone new to veg growing!

I have some climbing french beans (variety = Cobra F1) and wondered if anyone knew the best length to pick them at? I can't find a suitable reply online for this particular variety but have seen wildly varying values for other french beans ranging from 4" to 8". I do know for this variety they can grow up to 8" long, but is that the best time to pick them?

Thanks for the help!

  • I start picking them when they're 4" to 5" then as the number of beans becomes more than I can cope with I usually let it slip and end up picking them at 8". The advantage of Cobra is that they don't get stringy and still taste good even when they're large.
  • Perfect, thanks very much for the response!
