Good performer

In this rapidly disintegrating summer (well up north anyway) it's great to have a good solid performer in my garden. I've been amazed how my Verbena bonariensis has stood up to everything thrown at it in recent weeks, remaining upright and strong with just the tiniest bit of support needed.

It’s a tough old plant and self seeds everywhere.   Butterflies and bees love it.

    They look lovely!
I grow 3 from little plugs in spring and they are now about to flower. They are much tougher than I thought. From now on, my garden is not going to be without them!

It grows in the clippings on the drive, between the cracks on the patio, everywhere! Once you’ve got it you’ll never be without. Just leave the heads on in the winter and they’ll pop up in the spring.

    Really easy from cuttings.
I rarely get them self seeding, but I use the bits I trim back in late spring to make new plants.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I love it but sometimes they flop in wind (when they are not supported by other plants around). This year, I also have the smaller version, v.b. 'lollipop', it still grows quite tall but the branching is better.

I love my Verbena bonariensis one of the best plants I have, still standing after all the rain and wind when other plants have flopped. Only wish I had cut it back to the ground in early spring!! I have taken some cuttings in the hope they will root but normally I'm rubbish at that kind of thing
