Hi i inherited this plant when moving into my new property, it has clearly been grafted onto a root stock, at first i thought it was a rose but plenty of growth and no buds, so now not sure any ideas? And why no buds, I will start feeding with a water down tomorite solution, to see what happens
..yes it has rugose foliage, so it's likely a hybrid rugosa rose... can't tell which one until we see some flowers on it... one with similar foliage is 'Wild Edric'.. ...very prickly but it might be a good rose, so do hold on to it and hope it blooms for you before end of summer... rugosa type roses should never be sprayed with fungicide incidentally..
I have this along my banks, never planted it , present from the bird I think. It comes up everywhere, I cut it right down to the ground in the Spring, it’s up again before you can turn round! it’s in flower now, and will flower right through summer, it has lovely huge hips on it for the winter.
