    hi punkdoc thank you for your reply, i did wonder if it was, do you know what type? i took a photo with an app called picture this and it said it was a paperflower

    Well that’s apps for you. 🙄 

    it’s probably a rambler of some type but much better pics are needed for an ID. Pics of buds, upending flowers showing the centre, backs of petals, stems, leaves, scent and information about when it blooms etc. 
    With that sort of info @Marlorena is usually pretty good at giving a good ID. 
    Otherwise you could have a look at the many roses here and see if you can find something similar

    Hi 

    there’s no noticeable scent, it’s been flowering for around 2 weeks, it’s growing up and over a 4ft fence, here are some more photos, I’ve taken a few cuttings as I’m hoping to grow it in my garden.

    Your photos show 2 plants.  The first with the red flowers is a type of rose (a floribunda type, I think, but you'll need a rose expert to identify which one) and has the thorny stems.  The 2nd photo is common ivy, Hedera helix.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    The rose looks to have single flowers; perhaps one I always knew as Queen Alexandra.

    There are many varieties of common ivy in cultivation, and that looks like one of the more decorative ones.  If you search "Hedera helix varieties" you might be able to put a name to it.
