At a loss with Cherry Tomatoes

Need help please. Been given four Cherry Tomato plants and I am unsure How to care for them. . About three foot high now . Can they be grown outside ! I remember my old Dad used to do pinching out but don't know what it means . Complete novice with these things . Any advice would be really appreciated .

    It will also depend where you live as to whether you can grow outside.
    I can't grow them outdoors here as temps aren't reliably in double figs overnight, so it's important to know your local conditions  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
