The mystery of the lilies!

I love lilies and the thing I like best is the scent. Last year I grew many lilies on the allotment in tubs planning to cut them for the house but they were decimated by Lily Beetle so this year I planted them in tubs in the front garden and checked every day to kill all the little red swine ! So far so good lots of lovely healthy lilies. 

Here is the mystery, the lilies have absolutely no scent! One of them is orange, I only grow pink and white lilies.
I always choose the most heavily scented varieties.
