In the battle of the bindweed, the first victory is to Roundup.

I've tried for 13 years to kill the bindweed here, I now just pull it up whenever I see it. Keeps it under control of sorts.

Best of luck @Hostafan1, I never will as it comes from 2× nextdoors

it was in the ground before the polytunnel. I'd hoped that we'd got rid of it when we scalped the soil to level the site. Alas no.

We beat it with Roundup in our last garden ... but we had to stay on our guard as it lived next door and kept popping in for a visit 🥊🥊🥊

But do you use it near to edibles @Hostafan1 ?  We have not bindweed in the garden (thank god), which is all ornamental, but we do have loads at the allotment.

Hosta, did you did the bindweed in the round up? Or use gel?

I'd never use it near edibles,( even though Hostas are ,technically , edible ) .
I wore a marigold glove and cupped my hand around it and sprayed it with a little hand sprayer and rubbed hte glove over it.

  • For things like bindweed and horsetails,  one needs to kill the roots,  the only weed killer that accomplishes that is brushwood , carefully brush it on the lower leaves. In a few days it will die back and continue to travel through the roots. Each weed needs to be attacked in the same way.
