Battling the elements

The weather has been so changeable lately, it’s been a struggle trying to keep the plants from being ruined. Only a week ago, I had the heater on in the greenhouse. Now it’s too darned hot! We’ve had strong winds which blasted everything in the garden and today we had torrential rain followed by huge hailstones. It’s a bit dispiriting to see the rose petals being blown off and other plants going yellow/shedding their leaves because they’re so sodden. There doesn’t seem to be any happy medium!

Hmm been looking at properties in Yorkshire as I'm getting itchy feet. Sounds like a hell hole!

Just kidding, we've been from drought to floods and everything in between here in Essex this year already. I guess the only good thing is we are quite exposed here so I mostly grow things that can take strong winds and stake things that can't, so the garden survived some very unseasonal onslaughts of wind already.

We have rain promised, there were a few drop earlier in the evening, hope that isn't our quota, very often it can be pouring down a mile away and bone dry here all summer.
