Courgette woes!

Hi all,

First time veggie gardener here looking for some courgette help!

I've noticed my courgette plants have started going bad at the tip of the female flowers and the leaves seem to be damaged round the edges too. Is this the dreaded blossom end rot people warn about? This has happened on the 2 plants I have in containers and also, to a lesser extent, to the 2 plants I have in raised beds. Up until now they've seemed healthy and have been producing plenty of courgettes.

Any advice would be really appreciated :)

I've not experienced end rot, though I don't think from the pictures it is anything drastic.

The leaf curl is most likely nutrient deficiency. If you haven't already, start a feeding regime, courgettes are hungry plants.

I think end rot affects the courgette itself on the end that has the flower. From the image that is a spent flower that will dry up and drop off in any case.

@GemmaJF is right, that's not end rot, nothing wrong with that courgette! Rot will affect the courgette itself, not the flower. You might want to carefully tear off the very end of the burnt bit of the flower to let it open.
  • Thank you both for your replies. I've given them a good feed and snipped the ends of the damaged flowers so fingers crossed they start to improve soon!
