Any help gratefully received I’m absolutely gutted 😭😭

Rinse it all off now and try not to use soapy stuff in future.  It's harmful to the plant if too concentrated, harmful to predators such as ladybirds, hoverflies and lacewings which will eat the aphids and also to birds such as blue tits and sparrows who feed them to their nestlings.

In the mean tim, squishing with your fingers or just a blast from the hosepipe will remove most of the aphids while you wait for the good guys to arrive.

Your hydrangea will also be much happier outside in the ground rather than in a pot and in what looks like a conservatory.

  • Thanks ...have given it a good rinse off...it doesn’t live in the conservatory hubby just brought it in for me to look at....we are in the process of a garden revamp...which was started then lockdown happened, so it got put on hold and plants that where ordered had to go in pots...rather then the ground and then be dug up...once new patios, turf and raised beds are done she will be going into her permanent home...I just hope she survives and forgives me my mistake.

If you have rinsed off the worst and can now keep her watered but not sodden she should be fine.  Keep her out of full sun while she recovers.
