Who are these beasties and what are they doing to my willow tree? Should I be trying to get rid?

They look like 'soon to be' ladybirds alexandragribbin busy hoovering up all the aphids.  They are the good guys  :)

NO!! they're the good guys - ladybird larvae
They'll soon start eating the aphids that are damaging the leaves

To be honest, nor have I, but there's an invasion of them this year in my garden too and it was another forum member who told me what they are. They're doing a great job with the aphids in my garden this year :)
