Identifying a plant

Can anyone help identify this plant please and how we get rid of it. It arrived in gravel we believe..

    Eeek...equisetum. My garden nightmare.  Only useful as a tea for plants.

    resistant to just about everything and deep rooted so only solution is constant vigilance and removing every new spike that appears.  After a few years it will get weaker.

    Oh blimey, really we keep pulling them out but it doesnt make much difference. We never had it, then had some gravel laid and the gravel is full now of this plant.
