What to sow now

As the title says what can I sow in my veg patch now. It's my 1st year and have a patch I can fill and don't want to waste the chance

What I'm sowing this month: peas, calebrese, dwarf french beans (I did climbing french last year at this time, it was a raging success fyi) beetroot, recently done courgettes and I'm trying pumpkin.

I've just sown some pak choi, grows well into the autumn.

Just time for Courgette and Pumpkins, IF we get a long summer. I used to always plant direct mid June, so give them a go if it appeals.

Don't bother starting them indoors, just put two or three seeds in direct.

It is hot here in Essex though and long summers that last well into the Autumn are normal.

Courgettes should be fine further North, certainly time to see a crop, Pumpkins, perhaps a careful pick of variety is in order, something with medium sized fruit rather than giant ones.

Weirdly, there is time for new potatoes grown as 'late season potatoes' never tried it, but came across it the other day while researching something else, they can go in July to the end of August. (Would be interested myself if anyone does this!)

Radish, spring onion, lettuce if you like salad and definitely winter lettuce, though it will need protecting against frost later down the line.

    Turnips can go in now.

Could start off Spinach, Purple sprouting broccoli and cauliflower for next spring along with the pak choi suggested by @Helix

Garlic goes in October to Christmas for next year.

So I've ordered Pak choi, Swiss chard, corrgette, perpetual spinach, cavel Nero. Think that'll do me for now. @GemmaJF no thanks on the potatoes as a farmer's son I have far too many bad memories of tractors stuck in seas of mud and rotting spuds to be bothered to grow them for fun 🤣🤣

Perfect time for sowing Florence (bulb) fennel direct, if you like it:

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
