@pjbw ...oh lovely !... ...You were absolutely correct in that it isn't a rambler at all, but how I knew it was that rose was when I enlarged it, I could see it was a huge hybrid musk type of rose with multiflora lineage, from the foliage what I could see of it... this may mean nothing to you... I then thought of what the late David Austin said about Pleine de Grace back in the 1980's that he did not know of a rose that produced such a profusion of blooms... I even wanted it myself around 1990 when they sold it here... ...I also recognised it wasn't one of the regular English bred hybrid musks, but typical of Louis Lens roses in Belgium at that time... it is a hybrid musk/R. Filipes cross [you've heard of 'Kiftsgate' I expect], and I think it shows characters of both those in your rose..
