Lonicera Fragrantissima

Because this honeysuckle flowers in winter (Dec to Feb, or Jan to March, depending on where you read it) and is fragrant too, I want to use this to 'fence off', if you will, a veg plant area.  Is this advisable, provided I don't let it grow too high.  It'll be behind the veg plants, as far as the sun is concerned, so they'll get sun, but if it is OK, can you advise how I might support this structure, as I've seen that honeysuckle likes support?  Would it provide a nice looking 'fence' during the other months, or is there anything I can grow within it, that'll provide this?  Thank you.

Lonicera fragrantissima is not a climber.
    It is a shrub.
    Very well behaved.
As you say.... flowers in winter on bare stems.
Rest of the year it is completely boring.
I adore the scent from any honeysuckle.

  • Thanks.  So I'd need to grow something else with it.  Anybody got any ideas what I might use?
  • that's the thrid thing I like about it, that Blackbirds love eating the berries.  Hmmmm.  Got me thinking now.  I don't mind pruning regularly.  tyvm.

Would a smallish rambling rose or even a dog rose suit?

Thx for the suggestions Lizzie.  I need to check them both out.  I'll let you know what I go for.
