Limelight Hydrangea

Hi 
My limelight hydrangea doesn’t seem to be flowering, or even getting any buds ready to flower. It was planted last summer as quite an established plant and I cut it back about two thirds in January as recommended by the nursery I bought it from. It’s had a lot of green growth since then but no sign of flowering! It’s in quite heavy soil but it does drain well and I give it plenty of water and it’s on a sunny fence. Any ideas? I’ve attached a photo for reference - also looks like something is eating the leaves?!

    Mine is the same. It was in a pot last year and flowered well. I then planted it in the garden and it has not flowered this year. I think its concentrating on getting rooted. Hopefully I will have flowers next year. You too.

    I have 4 similar hydrangeas.  2 are flowering well and 2 are like yours - healthy growth but no flowers yet.   Patience needed and water during hot, dry spells.
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

    I agree. My limelight seems to be very late this year although my other hydrangeas are all in flower.

    Yes, all my paniculatas are either just opening, in bud or not yet showing buds whereas the big blousey lace-cap pair we inherited are flowering their socks off.  Mind you, they were too big so did get a serious pruning last autumn, a tidy up this spring and a jolly good feed.   I expect that woke them up a bit tho I fed the others too in early spring.

    Need to update my post - just seen that there are indeed small flowers coming.  :)
