Pesky pumpkin leaf problem

Hello knowledgeable people!

I had this problem with my pumpkin leaves last year. Showing photos at various garden centres didn't get me very far. I tried a mould-killing spray last year to no avail. This year I gave the plants more room to breathe, but that doesn't seem to have helped either (and there's not been a lot of damp!)

It's like a paleness that spreads across the leaf along the veins, and eventually the leaves go paper thin and start to deteriorate.

I've seen other 'pumpkin leaf' threads here, but nothing that looks quite like this.

I did get a few pumpkins off the affected plants last year... these seeds probably came from those, but I wasn't expecting to get the same problem again.

From growing pumpkins and squashes this seems pretty normal, I don't believe the white veining is a problem. So long as the leaves are not all dieing off at once and you are getting pumpkins then I'd think no problem.
The leaves of squashes do usually get powdery mildew later on but I find I've had enough from them not to be too bothered.

Mine are often like that, it doesn't affect the growth or the pumpkins. If they are producing pumpkins- and you don't want too many on the plant, pinch out the growing tips.

I agree ... some squash varieties seem to develop this shiny silvery layer ... I’ve never found it to cause a problem.
    It’s different to powdery mildew.
