Potted Gift
HI,
I would like to buy my sister and her husband a 'gift for life' to celebrate their 20th Wedding Anniversary. They both love their garden however their enthusiasm isn't necessarily matched by their skill and commitment - so I think something low maintenance would stand a greater chance of survival!
I was thinking of getting them something that could be grown in a pot, either a tree or something scented...or even better a scented tree!!!
As you will have gathered - my gardening knowledge is virtually non-existent - so links to any suggestions would be really helpful as I don't know where to start!
Thanks in anticipation!
Jane

As you're not super knowledgeable as a gardener, maybe a gift voucher for a local garden centre? Or offer to take them and tell them you're buying them a treat?
To give a bit more information, my sister lives in Suffolk - which is a bit far for me to go from my home in Shropshire under the current restrictions - so a shopping trip is out of the question unfortunately.
She has sandy soil and the garden is quite sheltered. I know she likes pinks and blues colour wise - but she isn't averse to anything - colour or scent-wise.
In their previous garden in London, she and her husband grew lots of palms and banana trees ...but I had wanted to stretch her repertoire a bit as I can see they are creeping back in and wanted to introduce her to new things.
A friend of mine has a beautiful mock orange which I have always coveted, but it seems so fragile looking, I would be scared that it might not survive my sister's enthusiastic bursts in the garden.
During my searches this morning, I have spotted both the Japanese Maple and a Japanese honeysuckle - we used to have a honeysuckle by the washing line in our childhood home so it brought back memories of putting out washing against it's scented backdrop...any thoughts on these choices...or other suggestions please??
