  Looks like a bay laurel. Are the leaves perfumed when you crush them? I could be wrong though.

  It still looks like Portuguese Laurel with the close-up.

  Leaves not right for Prunus laurocerasus...common name Portuguese Laurel
  Might it be Prunus otto luyken?

  I thought Otto Luyken had smooth edges to the leaves, the ones in the photo are serrated.

  I still think it is Portuguese Laurel due to its size. Prunus Laurocerasus 'Otto Luyken' only grows to around a meter tall.
