Turmeric as bug control

My poor pepper plant is getting devoured and there’s even a hole in one of the small peppers. Google took me to this post which mentions using turmeric and I was wondering how effective it is on getting rid of bugs?

I was originally planning on keeping the pepper plants indoors but they became too big and the roots were starting to show through the bottom of the largest pot I could fit on my windowsill.
